Bark is grey, exfoliating and exudes a dark brown to black resin, blaze aromatic; Leaves are large, odd pinnate, bright yellow when young turning to velvety-crimson; Inflorescence is a large panicle. Flowers are polygamous and 3-merous with a prominent hypanthium and a lobed disk. Stamens are about 6. Fruit is a drupe.
